My name is Senji Torrey! I am a proud Japanese-American writer eager to expand my journalistic breadth in my final year at the University of California, San Diego. For over two years, I have focused on sports writing. Through countless game recaps and underdeveloped opinion articles on far-off teams, I realized that it may be best to expand.

Accordingly, I worked on an investigative piece on the pro-Palestine protests on U.S. campuses this summer. Alongside three other top young journalists, we interviewed over a dozen individuals, synthesized raw data and wrote a 2,000-word package with our findings on how immigration status and identity influence students' participation in the movement.

The piece lit a spark that has inspired me to continue down this path, searching for and reporting on impactful stories just waiting to be told.
